CLUB HISTORY
Clarkston Amateur Athletic Club (03/09/07)

Clarkston Amateur Athletic Club officially began in 1965 as an organisation to offer boys the opportunity to play football.Efforts to establish a boys/youth section at GNAAC had begun in 1963 but floundered due to a lack of support and resources from the then committee. A group of individuals led by Charles C. Conan(our first Chairman) and Mervin Wright decided to go it alone and formed Clarkston.A.A.C.
One of the first decisions made was to adopt the colours of Tangerine and Royal as club colours. This striking combination gave the club its own identity and is still being used(in various combinations)today.
In 1965 schools football dominated the scene with no football academies and very few "boys" clubs to compete with.It is believed that Clarkston committee members John Murray and Dick Curry became very active in the establishment of the Johnstone and District Youth Football league as a vehicle for our club to expand and develop. Early expansion saw the number of teams and age groups grow. A move to the Paisley and District Amateur Youth Football league followed. Our association with this set up lastedup until 2001 when a switch more to Sunday football in Lanarkshire and North Ayrshire was established. Soccer 7,s although neglected in the early stages has seen the club expand down through the age levels and recently we had a 21,s team in the East Kilbride League.
Throughout the early years the club had a very strong reputation and fostered a link with Huntly Playing Fields in Giffnock. The early years were also very successful
